Following the success of the advent calendar post, I’d like to share with you some ideas for Christmas gifts from South of France, for all the family! Offer experiences, furniture, fashion, gourmet  products, from the French Riviera!

To bring along for dinner on Christmas Eve:
Gourmet products from Le Clos de Laure

This shop specializes on local gastronomic products. Le Clos de Laure is a good address to find homemade jams with regional raw ingredients: roses from Grasse or lavender flower among candied flowers, or lemon or mandarin from Menton, among jams.

You’ll also find a great variety of spread creams or veggie purées such as the tapenade (olive paste with anchovies) , the artichoke or eggplant cream and other products marinated with olive oil and herbs. And… a specific range of products for Christmas with lovely gift boxes. I tasted Prelude de Reveillon: artichoke cream with truffle, de-li-cious!

Jean-Luc Bertin  is waiting for you in his shop, a 15 minutes’ walk from the old city, in order to dedicate you some time for a tasting and very interesting explanations about the history of local products and the Nice cuisine.

♥Plus, if you are in charge of the Christmas Eve dinner, le Clos de Laure proposes a full menu including their products, a great inspiration as needed every year!

  • Open from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 7pm.

Candied fruits for Granny:

  • Maison Auer

maison-auer-niceAn enchanting shop for top of the range chocolates and candies since 1820. Once again, you can only find this company in Nice, or shop online. Do not hesitate to step in, at least for a glance, as the place itself is worth it. This bakery was the scenery of various movies.
This place is one of the best for famous candied fruits, but pay attention to the prices, as it rises quickly according to the weight.
This is the price to pay for quality, as everything here is made in the traditional way, and the current owner Thierry Auer, the 5th chocolate maker of its generation, is willing to preserve the authencity of the company. For example, all the fuits are pesticides free and no preservatives are used.

  •  Closed on Sundays and Mondays, daily close at 6pm
  • Tasting Nissa by Elsa on my to-do list !

For my mother-in-law

A pepper mill inspired in the pebbles from the Promenade des Anglais.
The Company Socca Chips has invented a chips version of the Socca, the specialty from Nice. Just as for the recently cooked socca you can buy in the old town, the socca chips is made from chickpea flour.

For Christmas this year, socca chips has created an original pepper mill to spice up my favourite aperitif.

For my little boy/girl: a toy box

Citron 12, run by Ophelia in Vence, bargain-huts vintage furniture and updates it with pastel colours. Take a look at this toy box or small wicker chair for example.

For my uncle : spirit from Nice
Pastis de Nice

about Pastis....JPG
Pastis is a yellow and anised-flavoured spirit, originally from Marseille. A few years ago, father Gil Florini decided to create his own natural and home-made version including 24 plants and spices. Pastis from Nice was born. It was first tasted by the beleivers at the Sanctuary of la Madone d’Utelle and church Saint-Pierre d’Arène.
A gift with a taste like holidays for the aperitif.
The shop also sells different products from the Monasteries all over France.

 Shop online soon available.
